What have I been up to? / Cosa ho combinato nel frattempo?

It's been a while, once again. What have I been up to during all this time away from my blogs? Well, I won't lie, I've been busy. First of all, I've had the honor to join the editorial staff of Italian blog Maglia-Uncinetto.it ! I'm still excited about it: I can't believe these talented ladies asked me to join them! Of course I'll write mainly about my greatest crafty passion, Tunisian crochet, as you might have guessed. I plan to translate at least some of my posts and share 'em on my blogs for my international readers, so keep in touch if you're curious. :) Other news? Well, yes: I tried knitting once again, this time following a great teacher (which is one of my blog colleagues, too), Alice Twain . She's an amazing knitter, and she published a book specifically for knitting beginners, "Ai ferri corti". Thanks to her book, I finally managed to understand how the heck you knit! And not only that: she's had lots of patience, ...

Finished! / Finito!

Hello ladies! How was your weekend? Hope it all goes well! I'm here to show my finally finished baby cardigan, remember ? I've already told you about the wool I used in my latest post, so I won't bore you any longer - just a quick note: if you happen to find it and you've got some knitting baby project in mind definitely try it out! It's thin but grows quickly, it's incredibly soft and it took me less than 100 g on 3.5 mm needles to finish this cardigan, which should fit a 6 months old. Ciao a tutte! Com'è andato il fine settimana? Spero tutto bene!

Snowflakes finally came tumbling down from the dark skies yesterday, and as the snow was falling outside I was knitting with snowflakes inside. Take a look at this wool I found: it's Silke's Baby Neve ("neve" means "snow"), and its otherwise pretty flat color is embellished with these little woolly snowflakes. Isn't it cute?  I bought it in order to make something for a newborn girl, and I had originally planned to crochet this; unfortunately I found out that it turns really thick when worked with a hook. So... yeah, knitting. What a joke. Have I been to ambitious when I decided to knit a cardigan? You bet! I had no idea where to start, and now that I started I have no idea where to go, but I think I'll figure it out on the way... hopefully! I did lots of research to get the right measures and went through some trouble to find them, but finally made it; I decided to knit a bigger cardigan (about 6 months) so she may be able to wear it a little...

Winter? / Inverno?

I don't know about the places where you live, but here we've seen such little snow that it doesn't feel like Winter at all, and I'm pretty upset about it, it's not natural at all!  Anyway, regardless the temperatures, the wool calls, so I'm always working on something. Here I'd like to show you my very first knitting project, a scarf I made as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. I know, it's not an original project at all, but I'm still very proud of it. Furthermore, the wool I made it with is special for us, as we bought it as we were on holiday by the sea this Autumn, and it's a wonderful yarn, the one I talked about in this post. Its color is much better that it is in the pictures, and it's oh so soft - I almost wanted to keep the scarf for myself! ; ) What do you think, you likey? In ogni c...

Calling all knitters!

Ciao a tutte!

How many techniques have I written about during these months? Crochet, k nooking , tunisian crochet... but in the end my dream has always been knitting, and I'd never been able to learn how to do it, though I tried really hard. Well, maybe the time just wasn't right before yesterday evening, when I asked my patient mum for the umpteenth time to explain me how it's done, because this time I had no problem! So, finally...
