Weaving Olden Patterns

Hello folks! I've been away for a long time again, but here I am showing you some succulent beauties. These are some of my beloved Aloes, a genre of plants I've learnt to love: they're incredibly easy to grow, needing almost no cares, and even though they come from warm places they're not very much bothered by cold temperatures during Fall and Winter - some of these were outside when it was snowing, though not directly under the snow! Il velo tra i mondi è particolarmente sottile, il vento freddo da Nord racconta antiche leggende e fra le nebbie riusciamo a sentire arcani sussurri... The veil between the worlds is really thin these days, the cold wind from the North tells us of ancient legends and through the mists we are able to hear mysterious whispers... Proprio come questo fiore segna l'arrivo dell'estate, questa piantina sfoggia i suoi ombrellini colorati quando l'Autunno è alle porte... allora, per celebrare l'Equinozio e per augurarvi una buona stagione di raccolto, sperando che cogliate frutti meravigliosi, condivido con voi questa foto, un piccolo pensiero.  Just like these flowers bloom when Summer is coming, these ones bloom when Autumn's at the door... so, to celebrate the Equinox and to wish you all a merry harvest season, hoping you'll ripe some wonderful fruits, I'll share with you this photo as a small gift for you all. Nel caso vi interessasse saperlo, la pianta in questione è un Sedum spectabile, ed oltre ad essere molto generosa al momento della fioritura è estremamente resistente sia al gelo (alla fine della fioritura perde la parte aerea, che rinasce verso la fine dell'inverno) che al caldo, e in più i fiori risultano molto appetitosi per farfalle, api e altri insetti. Q...

Stavolta non vi propongo la foto di un fiore per unirmi a Laura e alle altre amiche: vi mostro il reticolo di spine di uno dei miei ultimi arrivati, un Echinocereus rigidissimus . Un nome un po' altisonante che però rende bene l'immagine del cactus in questione. Si tratta di una piantina che cercavo da tanto e che ho deciso di regalarmi, sperando di riuscire a curarla al meglio... That's some bombastic name, but I think it gives you the image of the plant. Appuntamento del venerdì con le mie spinose, anche questa settimana piuttosto in forma con le fioriture...  Un piccolo pensiero per le mie lettrici e per Laura , sperando di rileggerla presto. Friday meeting with my thorny friends, they've been quite flowery this week, as well... A small thought for my readers, and for Laura , hoping to hear from her again soon.

Partecipo al ritrovo del venerdì di Laura condividendo altre foto dei miei amici spinosi (incredibile che sia già passata una settimana!!). In questi giorni si stanno beando del caldo e ogni giorno mi hanno regalato fioriture spettacolari, perciò ne condivido un paio con voi. La terza piantina non è (ovviamente) un cactus, bensì una varietà di cineraria, la Jacobaea maritima . Forse come me l'avrete visto crescere su spiagge rocciose, qui da me è molto diffuso come pianta da bordura, ma devo dire che anche in vaso si trova molto bene, e resiste senza fare una piega al sole battente e al gelo dell'inverno... tant'è che quest'anno ha anche deciso di fiorire! Non ho dimenticato l'uncinetto, ma purtroppo non sono riuscita a fare delle belle foto per presentarvi le mie ultime creazioni, che invece le meriterebbero, perciò rimando, spero di poter rimediare al più presto... I'd like to join my readers on this weekly Friday meeting, though the day is almost over, so I'll share with you my moments of serenity, some thorny ones, so... meet some of my cactus plants... Ci sono i nuovi arrivi che si preparano a stupire, regali speciali che ogni giorno mi fanno battere forte il cuore... There are some new friends who are getting ready to surprise us, special gifts that make my heart pound every day... C'è chi è un po' timido... There are some shy ones... E come sempre c'è chi ama farsi notare... And of course, there's someone who likes to be looked at... Grazie Laura per questa bella idea, spero di riuscire a partecipare con costanza in futuro... ...

Giugno è arrivato da qualche giorno, perciò sono un po' in ritardo, ma vi auguro un buon inizio di mese, in attesa dell'arrivo dell'estate, e per farlo vi regalo un fiorellino di una pianta che da me sboccia puntuale ogni anno proprio a giugno, so che è quasi estate quando fiorisce.  A presto!
