Giorni di pioggia / Rainy days

In questo insolito febbraio piove molto. Nel bosco durante le ore più fredde della giornata la neve prende il sopravvento e fiocchi fradici inzuppano la terra. Scacciare l'umidità dalle ossa è impossibile, allora cerchiamo di scaldarci come meglio possiamo: una buona tazza di tè e tanta lana, anche in casa. In queste circostanze trovo veramente utili gli scaldacollo, perciò ne approfitto per farvene vedere un altro (qui il primo), fatto di recente con un solo gomitolo da 50 g di ciniglia bouclé. Superfluo dire che è morbidissimo, è anche molto molto caldo, il che lo rende ancora più piacevole da indossare.

It's been raining a lot during this strange February. Here in the woods the coldest hours of the day bring some snow and wet snowflakes drench the earth. Chasing away the feeling of being damp to the bones is impossible, so we try to warm ourselves the best way we can: with a good cup of tea and a lot of wool, even when at home. Given these circumstances I find neckwarmers to be really of use, so I've decided to show you another one (here's the first), recently made with just a 50 g bouclé chenille yarn. Needless to say it's the softest thing I've ever made, it's also very warm, which makes it even more lovely to wear.

    Colori molto caldi e belli. E' vero, anch'io speravo nell'arrivo della primavera ma credo che lo scaldacollo lo porteremo per parecchio tempo ancora, più per l'umidità che per il freddo. A presto.

    Bel colore il tuo morbido scalda collo e certamente molto caldo e confortevole...quel che ci vuole in questi giorni umidi!La neve,almeno,mette un po' di allegria.Qui oggi,incredibile ma vero,sole!

And here's the Dragon! / Ecco il Drago!

Remember the Dragon Tail scarf/shawl I began some time ago? Well, last week I managed to finish it, and I'm oh so proud of it. Not only it's my first Tunisian crochet project, but it also turned out great, big and cosy and oh so soft (this thanks to the lovely yarn Géraldine sent me, Phil Bambou Laine by Phildar). It is 2 m long from tip to tip and 45 cm wide by the last scale, and the last row counts 110 stitches, which are quite a lot... : ) As I already wrote I strongly recommend this if you want to try Tunisian crochet, it's easy, good fun and you get a nice original item to wear. You might find this tutorial by Julia Marquardt helpful, but if you want to get one that's exactly like mine you have to change the pattern a little bit: I followed the instructions by a great designer, MariaGrazia Berno , who modified it a bit in order to obtain a scarf/shawl that curls up more. The discovery of "Railway Knitting"

Hi folks! Here's a small adventure that happened to me that I'm gonna tell you about, mainly because it brought me to a really interesting discovery. Some days ago I received a message on Ravelry from a lady who's made her own Tunisian crochet version of the "Pfeilraupe" scarf. She sent me a picture to show me her work, which was simply stunning: she managed to recreate the exact shape of the knitted one, with marvelous use of short rows, plus in honeycomb stitch, which I love (you can check out her project page here ). We exchanged a few messages, and by checking her profile I discovered that I was talking to Dela Wilkins! When the sudden feeling of being a complete idiot for not recognizing her before was gone, I felt (and still feel!)
