The Sea and the Shawl / Il Mare e lo Scialle

A long awaited week off took me to my beloved Sea, which I had not visited since January... did I miss her? I hadn't realized how much untill I got there and saw her magnificence again... 
Luckily I brought along this wool which I bought some weeks ago: I intended to use it for a friend, but you know what? I decided to keep it for me and make something which reminds me of the Sea. A shawl, of course, whose pattern somehow makes me think about the waves, and the colours, well, they speak for themselves, I believe... I managed to finish the shawl a couple of days before coming back home, so I was able to wear it on some beach walks and take pictures of it. Now I'm back on the mountains and I'm enjoying wearing some warm Autumny colours, but I think this one will look just as fine amid the falling snow this Winter...

Una settimana di vacanza tanto attesa mi ha permesso di rivedere il Mare, da cui ero lontana fin da gennaio... mi mancava? Non mi sono accorta di quanto finché non l'ho rivisto...
Per fortuna mi ero portata dietro questa lana: volevo usarla per un regalo per un'amica, ma sapete una cosa? Ho deciso di tenerla per me e di realizzare qualcosa che mi facesse pensare al Mare. Uno scialle, naturalmente, con una struttura che mi ricorda le onde, e i colori, beh, parlano da soli, credo... sono riuscita a finire lo scialle un paio di giorni prima di rientrare, così l'ho potuto indossare per qualche camminata sulla spiaggia e un po' di foto. Ora sono tornata alle mie montagne e mi sto godendo i colori caldi dell'autunno, anche negli abiti, ma penso che questo scialle farà bella figura anche sotto la neve, quest'inverno...

    Incantevole davvero ricorda i colori del mare mi sembra il mio mare ligure!!mi piace molto il modello ne sto iniziando uno anche io ma semplice....il tuo è davvero bellissimo...brava!!

Tunisian crochet hooks, pt. 1 / Uncinetti tunisini, parte 1

When it comes to Tunisian crochet, one of the first issues people face is: which hooks should I choose? I decided to write about my own experience in 2 or 3 posts, and hopefully help some of you. When I first wanted to try Tunisian crochet, I only had a couple of long hooks at home, and they were definitely too thin for a newbie, like 2,5 mm or such. So I headed to a local store and bought me a nice 5 mm one. It was the classic  long, straight aluminium hook with a plastic stopper at one end and a pretty rounded tip at the other end , branded Pony. I practiced a bit with it, and  I struggled because of the rounded tip . I didn't give up, though: I purchased some bigger sizes by the same brand, which were  double-ended and all plastic .  I couldn't use those to save my life . The yarn didn't glide on them, and using them hurt my wrist terribly. Silly newbie I was, I blamed it all on the technique itself and took a pause from it, even though I did enjoy it...

Finished! / Finito!

Hello ladies! How was your weekend? Hope it all goes well! I'm here to show my finally finished baby cardigan, remember ? I've already told you about the wool I used in my latest post, so I won't bore you any longer - just a quick note: if you happen to find it and you've got some knitting baby project in mind definitely try it out! It's thin but grows quickly, it's incredibly soft and it took me less than 100 g on 3.5 mm needles to finish this cardigan, which should fit a 6 months old. Ciao a tutte!
