100th post!

Hello everyone!
I'm always pretty absent from my blog, I know. The Turn of the Wheel between October and November has brought back my creative inspiration and made it stronger than ever, so I've been incredibly busy with hooks and wools! : )
To celebrate my blog's 100th post I decided to share with you my latest finished project, a stole/scarf I made for Mum as a Xmas gift. I found this wool at a local market and chose the color with my boyfriend, as the gift is meant to be from the both of us. For those of you who may be interested, yarn is "Tosca Light" by Lang Yarns, shade 0048 "Altrosa". Craft on the other hand is once again Tunisian crochet, with whom I'm totally in love, and pattern is called "Sillabub", by great designer MariaGrazia Berno (check out some of  her others here). Since I still think of myself as a newbie regarding this technique I'm incredibly satisfied with its look - and the feel, oh, if I could tell you how soft and light it is (just 220 g of yarn for 1.80 of length and 40 cm of wideness)! Don't trust those who say Tunisian crochet items are thick, they can be as airy as regular crochet and knitting! All it takes is a big enough hook (2-3 sizes more than regular crochet) and a nice stitch!

Ciao a tutte!

  8. ~~~ Congrats on your 100th post!! ~~~

Love that scarf ♥. Wonderful colors and a great pattern! Never thought it would be made with Tunesian crochet. Did you have to block it? I tried a similar waves pattern in knitting some time ago and the sides were rolling up themselves very badly. I looked up MariaGrazia Berno's site, she makes very pretty things indeed! But I couldn't find the pattern for Sillabub on that site. Where did you get it?
    Hugs, Nata

Finished! / Finito!

Hello ladies! How was your weekend? Hope it all goes well! I'm here to show my finally finished baby cardigan, remember ? I've already told you about the wool I used in my latest post, so I won't bore you any longer - just a quick note: if you happen to find it and you've got some knitting baby project in mind definitely try it out! It's thin but grows quickly, it's incredibly soft and it took me less than 100 g on 3.5 mm needles to finish this cardigan, which should fit a 6 months old. Ciao a tutte! Com'è andato il fine settimana? Spero tutto bene!

Bye, Blogger

I'll write on my  WordPress blog only, from now on, so if you want to follow me you'll find me there. I won't delete this blog, as I'm attached to it and it reminds me of the road I travelled so far, but at least for now I won't update it anymore.

December / Dicembre

Just a quick post to wish you all a merry month of December, full of coziness and warm thoughts while waiting for Yule (or Xmas, or however you like to call this happy holiday! : )). As some of you may have noticed there have been changes in my blog, first of all my name: yes, I'm called Valentina. Melatia was just a username I chose for the web, but in the end I grew tired of it and decided to use my real name. So, not much of a change, is it? Another thing, from now on I'll write in English first and then in Italian. Might sound strange, but when I first learnt English I felt such a love for the language, as if I had found something I lost once again... my love hasn't diminished through the years, and I know I'm not perfect writing and speaking it, but words flow much more easily in English, I have much more fun when I use it, so... tough decision? Not really, and I'm happy with it! : ) Talking 'bout creative stuff, I'm... busy, to say the least.
