Arriva il freddo / Cold is coming

Hello to all my dear readers! I've been away from my blog for quite some time, but I haven't been lazy with crochet at all. Thing is, there are too many items to show, but also too many things to do these days, so I decided to show you all in November.
The month of October is just like this, in the balance between Autumn and Winter, between light and shadow... with Samhain coming we tend to be introspective, to look back toward what we did and to look ahead forward what we wish we'll be able to do... so, between all these thoughts and tasks I have very little time for this little virtual space.
Anyway, today I decided to share with you something I did last month. I went back to one of my first crochet crushes, the wool fingerless gloves, this time in an super cozy and long version, with an extra cable to juice up their classic beige colour.
Unfortunately this photo doesn't do them justice, I must definitely take a better one, but in the meantime I wanted to know what you all dearies think about these!

  2. Mi piacciono molto, originali!

December / Dicembre

Just a quick post to wish you all a merry month of December, full of coziness and warm thoughts while waiting for Yule (or Xmas, or however you like to call this happy holiday! : )). As some of you may have noticed there have been changes in my blog, first of all my name: yes, I'm called Valentina. Melatia was just a username I chose for the web, but in the end I grew tired of it and decided to use my real name. So, not much of a change, is it? Another thing, from now on I'll write in English first and then in Italian. Might sound strange, but when I first learnt English I felt such a love for the language, as if I had found something I lost once again... my love hasn't diminished through the years, and I know I'm not perfect writing and speaking it, but words flow much more easily in English, I have much more fun when I use it, so... tough decision? Not really, and I'm happy with it! : ) Talking 'bout creative stuff, I'm... busy, to say the least. ...

Tunisian crochet hooks - Pt. 4 / Uncinetti tunisini - Parte 4

In 3 past posts I talked about a variety of Tunisian crochet hooks ( part 1 , part 2 , part 3 ), sharing my experiences and opinions with you all. In this post I'm gonna write a very specific kind: BIG hooks. Bulky and super bulky yarns are a reality, these days . If you like these kinds of yarns, you might seriously consider trying them with Tunisian crochet. Especially if you use simple stitches, like Tunisian simple stitch or Tunisian knit stitch, this technique really makes the texture of both stitch's and fabric stand out . I'm not a sucker for gigantic yarns and hooks, normally, but I do think that, a few times a year,  crocheting with big hooks is lots of fun . Question is, where to find those really big Tunisian hooks? Denise sets go up to 15 mm hooks , but what if we want even bigger ones? Well, not to worry: ChiaoGoo makes Tunisian hooks with flexible cords up to 25 mm ! ChiaoGoo's are bamboo hooks, wonderfully smooth, with a nicely pointed tip , and...

Bye, Blogger

I'll write on my  WordPress blog only, from now on, so if you want to follow me you'll find me there. I won't delete this blog, as I'm attached to it and it reminds me of the road I travelled so far, but at least for now I won't update it anymore.
